Privacy Notice
This notice explains how The Food Economist handles personal data submitted through MyProfit at myprofit.thefoodeconomist.co.uk.
Who Controls The Data
The controller is The Food Economist, operated by Godfred Frimpong as a sole trader. Contact: godfred@thefoodeconomist.co.uk.
What We Collect
- Lead details: name, email address, business name if supplied, phone number if supplied, the figures you enter into the Restaurant Profit Check and the cost shares and margin indicators calculated from them.
- Intake details: name, email address, business name, phone number if supplied, product selected, cost notes, uploaded or pasted figures, and the main concern you describe.
- Prepared-call booking details: name, business, email address, phone number if supplied, selected service, booking time, calendar confirmation data and the context you ask the analyst to prepare.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the website and prevent spam.
Why We Use It
- To send the written summary of your Restaurant Profit Check where you ask for it, and to respond to your enquiry.
- To deliver a Triage Report or Menu and Margin Diagnostic if you commission one.
- To schedule, confirm, reschedule or cancel a prepared call where you request one.
- To send a short follow-up email sequence about restaurant margin analysis where the form clearly says that follow-up will happen.
- To keep records needed for service delivery, dispute handling and tax records.
Lawful Basis
For enquiries and Restaurant Profit Check follow-up, the lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to a business enquiry and providing relevant follow-up about the service requested. For paid work and intake forms, the lawful basis is contract. Paid work that uses invoices, rotas or takings is also recorded under the Data Protection Agreement. For records required by law, the lawful basis is legal obligation.
Processors And Sharing
Data may be processed by the website host, email provider, Brevo for email automation, and Stripe for payments. Stripe handles payment data directly; this website does not store card details. Data is not sold.
Retention
Unconverted leads are normally kept for up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymised. Working files for a triage (invoices, rotas, takings extracts) are deleted within 30 days unless a separate written engagement requires a different period. Client delivery records are normally kept for up to 6 years where needed for business, tax or dispute records. You can ask for earlier deletion where retention is not legally required.
How We Contact Business Prospects
The desk sends a small number of individually written emails to named people at UK restaurant businesses where a written margin review may be relevant.
What is held: name, job role, business email address, company name, and the public source the details were taken from.
Where it came from: publicly accessible sources only, such as the company's own website, Companies House, or published trade listings. Contact details are not bought, scraped in bulk, or obtained from third-party lists.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests. The interest is informing a named budget holder at an eligible business about a written restaurant margin-analysis service. A balancing assessment is documented and available on request.
Retention: where there is no reply, details are deleted within 12 months of the last contact. Where you object, your details are added to a suppression list and retained only for the purpose of not contacting you again.
Your right to object: reply to any email, or write to godfred@thefoodeconomist.co.uk, and contact will stop immediately. No reason is needed.
Your Rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal data, and you can object to follow-up marketing at any time. Email godfred@thefoodeconomist.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
